Staying Motivated During the Holiday Season

Staying Motivated During the Holiday Season

The holiday season is full of joy, celebration, and… endless opportunities to eat. 😅
November and December are the final stretch of the year, and between travel, family gatherings, and special events, it’s easy for our routines—especially movement routines—to get completely thrown off.

This happened to me over Thanksgiving. I took a trip to Vegas and had a wonderful time—gambled a little, watched a show, and dined at a couple of my favorite restaurants (Lawry’s and Joe’s, since we don’t have them in New York!).

I knew my normal routine wouldn’t apply there, and that’s okay. It was my vacation, and I wanted to take a break from my usual schedule. But that didn’t mean I stayed completely inactive.

I made a simple intention: Just Keep Moving. So I walked. A lot.

During my 4-day trip, I averaged 17,500 steps per day just by choosing to move whenever I had the chance—strolling through hotels, exploring new places, and taking the long way instead of the shortcut. It all added up.

And that’s my message for anyone struggling to stay motivated this season: Do whatever you can to keep your body moving.

Even if it’s different from your usual workouts.
Even if it’s not perfect.
Even if it’s just small pockets of movement throughout the day.

The holidays are meant to be enjoyed.
And with a little intention, you can celebrate and stay connected to your movement goals.
