3 Simple Rituals I Use to Turn The Mood On

In my last post, I talked about how getting into the right mood often makes all the difference — because once I start moving, the excuses fade and the energy takes over.
But let’s be real — getting there isn’t always easy. We all need that playful push! So over time, I’ve learned a few little tricks that help me switch gears when my motivation is low. They’re small, but they work (at least for me!) - and they help me flip the switch to Dance Mood On.
💛 Lay out your outfit the night before.
When I see my dance tee first thing in the morning, it’s like a quiet reminder: this is part of who I am. It’s such a simple cue, but it helps me start the day on a positive note.
🍋 Set the mood with scent.
Scent is an incredibly powerful trigger. I use it to condition my brain and to strengthen my sense of discipline. For me, it’s a light citrus — something fresh and crisp that instantly wakes up my senses and snaps my focus. It signals to my brain: it's time to move.
🎶 Hit play on my feel-good playlist.
Music is my instant energy boost and a fast track to joy. If Beyoncé’s Crazy in Love or Bruno Mars’ Uptown Funk comes on, I just can’t help but move.
None of these things are big or fancy. But together, they help me turn the mood on — to find that spark that gets me moving.
